If you purchased a used car from a seller on eBay, craigslist, the newspaper, a friend, or a private party and they did not provide you with the title at the time of sale then you need to be cautious before you purchase the car. Roy Theophilus Bent, Jr. IACP Certified Auto Appraiser of Houston Auto Title www.HoustonAutoTitle.com is very familiar with assisting Texans with auto title problems especially when they purchased a car from a seller who did not have the vehicle that they are selling, titled in their name. Roy says. “You have to be careful when buying a car from someone who says they never titled the car in their name.” You risk a chance of something being wrong with the title which is a negotiable instrument.

There are many things that could go wrong when buying a vehicle from a seller who cannot provide you with the title including:

1)  The vehicle has A LIEN or MULTIPLE LIENS AGAINST THE TITLE. This occurs when the seller knows that there is liens and knows that you would not have access to know if their is a lien on record or not.

2)  The vehicle was last registered out of the State of Texas. If the vehicle you are about to purchase was last registered out of Texas, this can be a BIG RED FLAG. Vehicles last registered out of the State of Texas will not pull up in the States Records. There are steps that must be taken to properly inspect the vehicle which will be time consuming and required!

3) Titles with too many signatures. If the title has too many signatures on the back, the title automatically becomes null and void. You basically have the real title in your hands but cannot use it because the signatures of the person who bought and sold it is not yours.

If you purchased a used car and the lienholder is no longer in business but the lien still shows up on the States records, then your only choice in order to obtain a valid Texas Certificate of Title is to contact Houston Auto Title at 1-877-845-2368 today.
